Alan Sirulnikoff

In residence: 2021

In his retreat time at the cottage, Alan created time to look through his extensive archive of slides and photographs and reorganise them.

Gibsons-based artist Alan Sirulnikoff has spent the last two-decades working on long-term photographic projects in the form of series. These include: On the line (international laundry), Hidden Voices (graffiti), Dead Ahead (wild animals killed in road collisions) and more recently Still Life. In this era of digital alteration, he is drawn to a style of photography that allows him to be an observer of a moment or scene. He does not direct or manipulate the subject but rather appreciate the juxtaposition of events as they appear. The majority of his images have been photographed on slide film, a medium he continues to use.
